Model making is part of my job as a theatre designer,  and I love it.

I’ve been making models of homes for myself and other people for years, as an antidote, or time out,  from the frenetic world of theatre production.

 

The process is surprisingly similar to designing a play.

The commissioning client and their property become the script.

​

Listening to their stories and why they want a place to be remembered, researching, drawing, planning and collaborating are all part of the process.

​

When I hand over a scaled down version of a property, I see the effect it  has on the owner and it makes me want to start the next one.
